On July 1, 2010, in Healthcare Bill, by Health Care Provider

Continuing on our sharing of the details covered by the patient protection fact sheet, we bring to you the various benefits that consumer protection will bring to Americans.

In general, the new rules covered by the Patient’s Bill of Rights will provide relief and peace of mind to Americans who may face medical or financial chaos due to an illness or an accident. These rules have cost savings as a bottom line through the following initiatives: the reduction of the so-called “hidden taxes” on insured Americans; bringing improvement to the health of Americans; protection of savings of Americans; and enhancement of the productivity of workers.

Since people who are most at risk are to be assured of health care coverage, there will be less occurrences of provision of uncompensated care. This will, in turn, result in the reduction of costs shifting to those who are covered by health insurance. The assurance that high-risk individuals are provided with health insurance will also mean less premature deaths and should lead to a healthier American public.

It is said that more than half a million personal bankruptcies in the United States in 2007 were caused in part by high medical costs. With the Patient’s Bill of Rights, these costs will be shifted from individuals to insurance companies with the restriction on annual limits, the prohibition of lifetime limits and the ban on denial of coverage for children with pre-existing conditions.

And since children with health issues are assured of health care coverage, working parents will be more productive and efficient as workers as there will be a reduction in the number of days that they will have to miss work to care for family members.
